Virtual Festival 2020

Welcome to Billingham Virtual Festival

With the next Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance scheduled to take place in August 2021, we decided to bring you the first digital festival.  Billingham Virtual Festival features the best moments and performances over the last 55 years and introduces new dance companies who have not yet appeared at Billingham yet.

The virtual festival is the culmination of our project “Global Heartbeat of a Small Town”. Over the last 2 months and  through social media, we have brought messages recorded in lockdown from dance groups and individual artists from all over the World to the people of Billingham, our festival audiences and volunteers.

We hope you enjoy our first Virtual Festival.

Daily Virtual Festival programme:

9.45 am – Introducing the Programme of the Day with Kim Hardy

10 am – UNCLE BIFF Children’s Club – BIFFsters World Folk Tales with Kath O’Donnell

12 pm – Dance, arts and crafts presentations and workshops from all over the World

Looking back at the Festival’s 55 years:

1.30 pm – audience favourites from our YouTube Channel

3.00 pm – Flagship events

5.00 pm – The best traditional dance performances of the last 10 years

7.30 pm – International Evening Concert, featuring best selected Dance Companies from all over the World, who have not yet appeared at Billingham Festival.
